Better recording hardware only makes you a more marketable VO talent to a point of diminishing returns.
I know this.
And yet, I fall prey in my geek-heart to every new bauble that comes along.
Some are more worthy of consideration than others…and the Centrance MixerFace R4 is worthy.
Kudos for VO royalty Beau Weaver (also a geek) for revealing this gem. He has a nice write up in the FB VO Pros group that I administer with Terry Daniel. So you can check on his post – complete with audio comparison there, or by clicking the link below for a nice review.
I note in that FB thread that the Zoom H6n runs very close to the functionality of the R4, and in some respects supersedes it, but I don’t believe the H6n interfaces with iOS devices…at least I’ve never tried. So there’s that. Plus, the H6n is a bit more of an investment.
Check it out if you have an extra ~$400 sitting around.
