ASMR Explained

The sum total of what I DON’T know could fill the Atlantic and the Pacific.  But today, I dip a thimble-full of seawater and savor it.  Today I know what ASMR is: Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.

No, I have no idea what that means either, but an article in Psychology Today claims ASMR “describes the experience of tingling sensations in the crown of the head, in response to a range of audio-visual triggers such as whispering, tapping, and hand movements…”

Where Givenchy Fits in All This

Sometimes I think people are just looking for weird stuff to latch on to so they can feel special.  ASMR smacks of Cabbage Patch Kids to me…but here’s why I even bring it up in a voiceover blog:  Givenchy is offering a voiceover challenge; a competition to find an ASMR star for its new ad campaign.  See all the details about the Givenchy pitch here.

I have no idea what Givenchy is or does or produces…and that’s a pretty uncouth admission for a guy with a French name. But go for it…maybe you just have a very “conversational” way of tapping your fingernails on the mic.  (sarcasm intended)

But Wait, There’s More!

Under the category of practical stuff you can actually use in your voiceover business, there’s YET ANOTHER service offering a slick way to send big files…but at least it’s from a very reputable name:  FireFox.

Firefox Send lets you share files up to 2.5GB with end-to-end encryption and a link that automatically expires.  I’m not seeing any pricing for that…so I think it’s free.  Let me know if you’ve heard of this one, and what kind of  experience you’ve had.

The newest version of Adobe Audition CC 2019 is out Click To Tweet

Last notes:  Vimeo is offering a royalty-free video service. Quality stuff.  Notice I said royalty-free, NOT free, free-free-free.  Here’s the Vimeo page to see if you’re already a member

Do you use Adobe Audition CC?  The newest 2019 version is out, and it’s got punch ‘n’ roll, Zoom to selected clips and “auto ducking”.  Yes, AUTO DUCKING.  Click here to see the official Adobe explanation.

That’s all I got on this Thursday, folks….have a good one!
