Fast on the heels of the recent Audio Publishers Association Conference (APAC) in NYC two weeks ago, June is AudioBook Month (JIAM)
Now… I know AudioBook narration is a niche subculture of the greater voice acting universe, but it’s a growing one, and much like your friends in E-Learning, TV/Radio Commercials, and ViceoGames, the denizens of this universe are hard workers, intensely proud of their productions, and supportive/encouraging of their peers.
In honor of June being AudioBook month, one of our fave narrators — Xe Sands — has devised and produced a unique web-based project called SPOKEN FREELY…a brilliant idea that works.
More than 30 professional narrators are offering short excerpts of their work (a recording from the public domain) — one each day, and each on different book blogs. Donations are incorporated as well, and proceed go to help the Reach Out and Read literacy advocacy organization.
This entire month-long event: the website, the collaboration, the artwork, production, coordination and implementation of a great idea is just innovation and dedication at its best. My hats off to Xe Sands, and all the individual narrators for contributing as well at to Jeff Kafer for his help in engineering and mastering.
