Job vs. Purpose

clear-sense-of-purposeHere’s a new take on your outlook, your goals, your business plan, and/or your upcoming New Year’s Resolution:

Don’t define yourself by what you do, or what your job is…

Decide what your purpose is.

Can you articulate that?

For instance your job or your goal might be to provide the most professional voice-over services at the best price, but is that your purpose?

Here’s a possible VO purpose statement:  I partner with my clients to help solve their problems…. or my purpose is to educate prospective clients about the VO marketplace… or I’m all about building a supporting community among eLearning voice-actors.

Hey!…I’m not sure I’ve got the hang of this yet, either.  It’s a different mind-set, and may help you put some direction in your career.  ‘Cause voice-acting IS a career, ya know… not just a job.
