To honor this day in respect of it’s official genesis, I’m going to stay in bed all day. Only the TV station really wouldn’t appreciate that, and my VoiceOver clients wouldn’t either.
In fact the spirit of this holiday is now lost in “end of Summer” traditions, back-to-school sales, and Labor Day sales which forces more people to work on this worker’s holiday than was ever intended.
At least it’s not a movable holiday like Christmas or New Year’s. Labor Day falls on the calendar in such a way that we all get a 3-day weekend for those who are lucky enough to get it off.
The TV station gives me a “comp” day for working on Labor Day, which means I actually get to pick where I use that day off to my best interests. Not all that bad.
However you choose to spend this day, I hope it at least gives you a change in your routine!
