MXL DX-2 Mic Review

by | Apr 18, 2017 | Mics, VO Business

People read my blog who I don’t even know.  Usually it’s a good thing.

Take David G Beneke for instance; an audiobook narrator, and a geek like me when it comes to audio hardware (only his expertise vastly supersedes mine).

Beneke sent me an email a few days ago saying he just found a really decent relatively low-priced traveling mic, and wrote a blog about it.  Would I mind passing along his review of the MXL DX-2?

Well, I not only read his blog, but I was blown away by the exhaustive treatment of this mic review.

Yes!  I’d be glad to pass along the link to his profoundly thorough evaluation of the DX-2.  I think you’ll agree with me that it’s the full treatment.

The DX-2 is a dual capsule,Variable Dynamic Instrument Microphone, but Beneke contends it’s also an excellent vocal mic.  He does a mic shootout with other recognized mics in his stable:  The CAD E100s, AKG C414 XLII, Electro Voice RE-320, and the Shure SM58 to name a few.  He even offers sample recordings so you can hear the comparison yourself.

I haven’t had a lot of time to get to know David better, but maybe we all should.  He trades in a distinctive line-up of microphones, personally custom-modded mic, pre-amps, DAWS, and all manner of studio gear and software from his Vox Humana Studio.

So, here ’tis: David G Beneke’s review of the MXL DX-2.

Thanks,  David!  Drop by anytime!
