Today’s blog is tangential to voice-over, and yet it concerns each and every one of us who uses “The Cloud”…which is probably 95% of us…or should be.
It’s about space, co-location, server farms, bandwidth, but most of all, access to all you want, when you want, wherever you are, and whatever device you’re using.
It’s no secret that the big players in this space:
- Microsoft
- Apple
- DropBox
- Amazon
- Box.net
- SugarSyc
…and others, are fighting tooth ‘n’ nail to be YOUR cloud storage service of choice. The prices keep coming down, and the ease-of-use keeps going up. But now Amazon is going for broke…or it may go broke in the process.
Unlimited storage. Not 50 Gigs, not 100 Gigs…UNLIMITED. It’s not down to zero dollars yet, but the blood-letting isn’t over either, and the other guys will counter this offer…bet on it.
As it stands today though, Amazon is offering the unlimited storage plan for $60/yr…with a three month free trial.
…and you don’t have to be an Amazon Prime member to qualify. There’s a lesser plan for unlimited photo storage that costs $11.99/yr.
When you think about it…that’s insanely cheap. Why is this so important? Because of the insatiable and growing demand for pictures and video (of which I’m guilty for promoting on the pages of this blog). These two items take up more space than anything else, and of course everyone wants HD…which demands even more space.
