WHO “WE” ARE
Just above, I mentioned that “we” decided to do the book release today. I said “we” because while I was the sole author and conceived the idea of publishing a book of my best blog articles, there was a team that surrounded me with support: Brett Bumeter is my web developer. Diana Soloman is a virtual assistant, editor, and sage who guided me through this whole process. Susan Sullivan is my other virtual assistant who handled much of the publicity, online, website content, FaceBook, and newsletter design. I also hired a graphics artist — Steve Reed — here in Las Vegas.
‘Truly amazing the amount of collaboration that can be done online, mostly through email — and with total trust — to get stuff done. I learned SO MUCH about self-publishing, and STILL have a lot to learn.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT?
I will be lucky to recover my personal funding investment in this book. So weird that it doesn’t matter. Sure, I’d love to come out ahead, but it’s not likely. Maybe the next one (yes, there is already another book in the works). But, like the blog I’ve been writing for 7 years with nary an ad, ever…this book is a labor of love that starts with a pay-it-forward attitude, and never looks back. Sure it’s gonna be nice to add the title “published author” on my resumé, but even that has a rather esoteric value. No… seriously?….It’s just great to see a plan carried through to completion. I wanted this, (hopefully for the right reasons) and now it’s here.
