Writing Reigns

Among the skills I’ve developed in the last decade, none is more important than writing.

People decry social media and how it’s stolen decent physical social interaction, but people are writing now more than ever!…Twitter, Facebook, Texting, Email…it ALL demands you express yourself in written word…even if  U R using “text-speak”.

But forget all that.  At the heart of our culture is the written word.  TV, Movies, commercials, ads, articles, blogs, books, magazines, white papers, reports, files, subtitles…OMG the list is endless!  Acquire a facility with words, and therein lies a certain kind of power…but more importantly…a confidence that you’re making yourself understood.

UNLV Journalism Professor Michael Wilder asked me to write a blog for his class on Interactive Media Design.  He was particularly interested in hearing what I thought of YouTube from a working-journalist’s perspective.  I didn’t think I had much to say about it, until I got wound up on my laptop!

There’s not much here that may appeal to the voice-actor, but if you’d like to see how I think YouTube is making its mark today even more than ever…check it out:
