On Our Way to 500

goldfish jumping out of the waterWhat is the mark of success for ANY organization?  Many would tell you that hard numbers or accumulation of many members is important; but that doesn’t tell the whole story.  It’s not ALL about numbers.

At some point the Pareto Principle kicks in.  That’s the theory of the “vital few” that says for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.  (see The Pareto Principle for Voiceovers, here).

If I was the pastor of the neighborhood Baptist church, that’d mean about 20% of my parishioners do 80% of the giving.  As a voice actor that often means 80% of your revenue comes from 20% of your consistent clients.

Still, raw numbers are hard to ignore.  They are an important metric, and some people seek a certain threshold of pure quantity before they see any reason to look further.  World-Voices Organization has reached that threshold…and more.

Now at 350 qualified and vetted voice actor members, “WoVO” is hitting its stride.  More people joined in March than for any other single-month sign-ups.  Sure, we’ve had some fits and starts in past months, but now we’re hummin’!  There’s a shiney new website, an upcoming 2nd annual conference, a new Pro-to-Play site matching voice seekers with our members, and participation that puts the Pareto Principle to shame!

Click here to see our latest newsletter.  It’s only for WoVO members, but we want you to see what’s going on with us, and ask you to join our ranks.  We’re the only Industry Trade Association for voice-actors; promoting, advocating, educating, and mentoring for the business of voice-overs.  Isn’t it time you joined?
